She served as a School Teacher for 35 years at Chennai Corporation High School, (Chennai Port Trust Campus) Govt. of Tamil Nadu. She conducted free evening tuition for slow learners and students whose families relied on their part-time work due to circumstances like single parenthood or a parent's alcoholism. She provided free breakfast and dinner for some students and regularly distributed free stationery kits to underprivileged students. As a registered RHMP medical practitioner, she also provides low-cost medicine to the underprivileged women & children.
